Love conquers all.
Every time I seem to turn around and read a good article it is followed by 10 pessimist articles which I scroll through reading the headline of the article and cringe to myself a bit. Why on Earth do people like to be this way? Does it sell better? Of course Armageddon, the Holocaust, the great flood, etc. all have seemed to sell better over the ages but why are we so intrigued on violence and death? Wouldn’t it seem, we protect ourselves from such things consuming our hearts and minds? Yeah, we live in a world that has these things but very rarely do you hear. We live in a world full of love, peace, and happiness. People would immediately pipe up and say, “Well, that isn’t true!” But it is true, just like the other side of it, which is also true.
Choose what you see.
I don’t understand why Christians, my people, like to see the negative in life. “We’re facing so much persecution!!!” they exclaim. True, however, we’re also facing so much love it is ridiculous. Quit looking for love in all the wrong places. The world doesn’t understand us and never will and will oftentimes more than not, persecute us because they don’t understand it. Persecution isn’t just murder either. For some reason I always just thought it meant murder, perhaps, I am the only one with this conceived idea in my head before I actually decided to look it up in the dictionary. So, for people like me here is the definition.
hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of race or political or religious beliefs.
persistent annoyance or harassment.
An idea comes to mind, separate yourself if you can, from these scenarios. I know it can be hard. Heck, I’ve faced it in church more than anywhere else. You would honestly think that going to church would be a safe place or thing but you will meet opposition in a bad church. As I have traveled much I’ve met much opposition and it wasn’t that I spoke out of turn. I try to regard, have common courtesy, and let people live how they want for these things aren’t what truly matters anyhow. All that really matters is the love of God and the constant growing towards Him every single day through working the fruits of the Holy Spirit within ourselves. Many churches seem to be sin oriented and not God oriented. And maybe that trickles down to these negative articles about who is bashing who in the faith. Or who is opposing the faith rather than building the faith and helping out humanity in such a way that God would. For the rain does fall on the righteous and unrighteous just alike and we should leave our persecutions to the Lord for his vengeance.
Who do you choose to be?
This is a question I ask myself every day and note that Paul says, “I die daily.” Don’t think it so naive to have to ask yourself the same questions every day or make sacrifices every single day to move forward in God and in this beautiful life we were given. Remember King David up on the hill when opposition in the ways of persecution afflicted him that morning (paraphrasing)? What did King David do? How did he respond? Read below.
II Samuel 16:5 As King David approached Bahurim, a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei son of Gera, and he cursed as he came out.6 He pelted David and all the king’s officials with stones, though all the troops and the special guard were on David’s right and left.7 As he cursed, Shimei said, “Get out, get out, you murderer, you scoundrel! 8 The Lord has repaid you for all the blood you shed in the household of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. The Lord has given the kingdom into the hands of your son Absalom. You have come to ruin because you are a murderer!”
9 Then Abishai son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and cut off his head.”
10 But the king said, “What does this have to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? If he is cursing because the Lord said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who can ask, ‘Why do you do this?’”
The Lord said we will be facing many trials and to take them with all joy. Why then, do we complain about our joyous adventures in persecution? I have failed this way at times and have complained myself. May it continue to be far from me to do again. Heads up my brothers and sisters and keep looking towards the joy and not the deception of the world or its persecution.
